Tom Shapiro was the first officer of the URSS Alabama, and Robert Lee’s right hand man, and close friend. He was aboard the first shuttle sent to survey Coyote, when the Alabama crew arrived.
A pilot all his life, Shapiro went into the history books as the first man to set foot on the alien world. He had chosen The Jesse Helms shuttle to make the first historic trip from the Alabama down to Coyote, as it was the ship he flew up to the Alabama, back at Highgate, over two hundred years ago. He was the one who renamed he ship The Plymouth, his way of finally severing ties with The Republic.
