The comet had appeared a couple of weeks earlier. At first it was just a little more than a hazy white splotch that hovered just above the horizon after sundown, and no one in Liberty paid much attention to it. However eighteen nights later, its luminous tail was rivalled only by Bear, the large planet that the moon of Coyote belonged to. As a result, Robert Lee had been giving the comet more than a passing glance lately.
As mayor of the small colony he would be forgiven for feeling a slight degree of concern…
Did the comet realistically pose a threat… were they in danger?
