Carlos was a veteran of the world of Coyote.  As one of the original colonists, arriving as a teenager, he had been there almost all his life.  He had seen the early colonisation of Liberty, First Landing Day, and led the Resistance during the war against the Union.

Yet apparently Carlos still had much to learn. Well at least according to his wife.  She had urged him to be more tactful, and reminded him that in his new role as President of the Coyote Federation, he would have to learn to be diplomatic.  Carlos had accepted the job reluctantly, perhaps fearing he wasn’t up to the job of replacing Captain Robert Lee.  But he took great pride in trying, having learned so much from the former Commanding Officer of The URSS Alabama

Carlos was very environmentally aware, and was concerned about the effect their presence was having on Coyote’s virgin wildlife and surroundings.  He implemented measures to combat this, such as no fly zones over fragile unexplored environments, insisting on all exploration of new areas be done by boat, as he had done all those years ago, as the teenager who discovered much of the eastern shores.

When visiting his sister, Carlos stood proud, as he admired the large wind turbines that had recently been erected, giving Clarksburg clean, renewable energy that could one day even provide electricity to other settlements…

But Carlos had no time to savour that moment.  Receiving an urgent call from his wife, he was informed that an approaching starship had been spotted in Coyote’s orbit…

His heart skipped a beat… here we go again…

Over the next few months, Carlos was to receive a crash course in diplomacy, as the European Alliance visited Coyote…
