The URSS Alabama was constructed by The United Republic Of America, to travel to the 47 Ursae Majoris system, and to Coyote, the fourth moon, of its third planet.
Constructed in high orbit above earth, the ship was the first of its kind ever made. It was over 500 ft long and had a cruise velocity of 20% light speed.
It was named after the state whose NASA centre was responsible for its research and development. An ironic choice, since NASA no longer existed, its primary functions folded into the Federal Space Agency by The National Reform League.
Before launch, it was hijacked, and stolen from The Republic as a result of a conspiracy organised an implemented by its commanding officer, Robert E Lee. He had secretly replaced many of the colonists with scientists and engineers, whom had been captured and oppressed by The Republic. It left Earth on the 5th July, 2070, and arrived in Coyote orbit, 5th August 2300.
